Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this career path.

No, a degree is not strictly required. In the cybersecurity field, practical skills and industry-recognized certifications (like CompTIA Security+, CEH, or OSCP) hold massive weight. If you can prove you have hands-on lab experience and understand the core concepts, you can land a job.

For entry-level SOC Analyst roles, deep programming knowledge isn't required. However, as you advance into intermediate and senior roles, knowing how to write scripts in Python or Bash to automate tasks, analyze logs, or build exploits becomes incredibly important.

The 'Red Team' focuses on offensive security (ethical hacking, penetration testing) to find vulnerabilities before the bad guys do. The 'Blue Team' focuses on defensive security (SOC analysis, incident response, architecture) to protect systems and respond to active threats.
